An asteroid hurtled past the Earth on Friday in something of a cosmic near-miss, making its closest approach at about 1600 GMT.

The asteroid, estimated to be about 11m (36ft) in diameter, was first detected on Wednesday

On closer examination, it was discovered that a man with grey hair and a grey beard appeared to be piloting the asteroid and that it seemed to have some kind of strange force field around it.

No one on earth seemed to be effected by the object but there were reports that a group of anonymous alpaca farmers in Wales started speaking in tongues and talked in strange terms of saving the planet by forming an elite council of Alpacas that would be the core body of a new education committee for the planet.

The farmers were not available for comment but the man with the grey beard was last seen hurtling past Jupiter at great velocity trying to sell dvds to the locals
