    What is love?

Post  Neteru on Thu Feb 09, 2012 2:14 am

I know what love is by definition. I know the concept of love and there have been times when I believed that I was feeling love, but it was physical attraction, a lust. I understand familial bonds as well. Of course there are the scientific explanations, which I believe are spiritual workings manifesting through physical processes, but love cannot be explained by biological processes. To be completely honest, I know what I -should- feel about love, but when I see acts of love taking place before my eyes, it confuses me for some odd reason. Maybe I am here on earth to find out what love is.

    Hi Neteru

what love is is quite a dificult question, as there are so many answers and perceptions. Definitelly, talking about the universal love which has nothing to do with the 'lust', is even more difficult, as we as humans are limited in boundaries of this 3D earth, and this alone won't let us recognize or feel the 'real' love. I have had the bliss to be in that altered state of being where I was able to feel what love realy means, for just few short seconds. That feeleing was, I assure you, something so everwhelming, you just can't describe that with words.

But...I will post here the answer which my daughter gave to me 2 years ago (she was 7 years old back than), and you can see from that answer that actually, the internal love and wisdom has nothing to do with our limited perceptions of love.

This is the answer which I already posted back than on the original PA forum:

As usual, every evening before going to sleep, both of us discussed issues about God, dreams and many other issues about us, the humans (you just name it, she asks so many questions, I sometimes don't have even a clue about certain things she asks ).

Anyway, all of a sudden she asked me if I would know why God, the Creator created us? Now that was something new...so I decided to play the "question" game and asked her if she would know herself eventually?

She thought about this for some 10 seconds and first replied, that we're here to be nice with another, to play with another kids, to help each other, you know, I kind of answers small children would give you...

Just as I wanted to ask her to think about an eventually higher purpose then that, just in that moment she said

"No, no, Dady, I know now...we're here to recognise what love is!!!"

Now, I must admit that I was blown away...and that answer could pretty much be the real purpose of our existance here and now !

    Just wanted to share...

    Much respect

(if someone would give me some help, i would be glad to spill them out) i did that back in 2008 - however, it appears, NOT very many people want to listen to them LOL

This is the definition that I got from wikipedia:

"Psychologist Erich Fromm maintained in his book "The art of loving" that love is not merely a feeling but is also actions, and that in fact, the "feeling" of love is superficial in comparison to ones commitment to love via a series of loving actions over time.[13] In this sense, Fromm held that love is ultimately not a feeling at all, but rather is a commitment to, and adherence to, loving actions towards another, ones self, or many others, over a sustained duration.[13] Fromm also described Love as a conscious choice that in its early stages might originate as an involuntary feeling, but which then later no longer depends on those feelings, but rather depends only on conscious commitment.[13]"

I do not understand this kind of adherence that the definition is speaking. My mind was completely stopped while reading this. I have always thought of everything as having to do with feeling. If you do not feel it, how can it be there? What causes such a commitment when there is no feeling? This is what I mean by love having no biological explanation. Some have tried to give it an explanation but they cannot give one that makes any sense. They "grasp at straws" when they try to. This is something beyond my understanding. I believe I am on earth to find out what this is. There is the universal love that you mentioned, which is even more difficult to understand. This definition seems to speak of love between mates or friends. I have "friends" but I have never thought of such to be the result of love. It is more of a relationship of information. We share information like I am doing on these forums. It is not the kind of friendship that you normally find among people. :)

On the other hand, this is an interesting observation concerning lust, love, and antidepressants:

'Chemically, the serotonin effects of being infatuated have a similar chemical appearance to obsessive-compulsive disorder; which could explain why people experiencing infatuation cannot think of anyone else.[10] For this reason some[who?] assert that taking SSRIs and other antidepressants impede one's ability to fall in love. In one particular case anthropologist Helen Fisher noted:

"I know of one couple on the edge of divorce. The wife was on an antidepressant. Then she went off it, started having orgasms once more, felt the renewal of sexual attraction for her husband, and they're now in love all over again.[11]'

There was another thread recently that asked this same question Neteru. Maybe you'll find some answers there to be of interest to you. Here's the link.....

The nicest thing about being with the right person one gets to fall in love over, and over, and over again. The right person is one someone is compatible with. We call it the 7-chakra connection. Hadriel

Yes and it also shows the dangers of the unnatural substances being given to millions of people. That drug may very well have been the end of their marriage. What would have happened if she had not gotten off of it at that time? What if they had divorced and then she ended up getting off of the medication a few weeks after the divorce? She would have realized their mistake and it would have been difficult to repair the relationship again. That is a very important observation. I believe that most emotional problems are caused by energy imbalances.

That being said, the blockage or absence of the heart chakra could prevent one from feeling love, which is why it is said that the reptilians are so cold, and seemingly void of empathy. They have no heart chakra, or it is blocked, and so their emotional spectrum is much lesser than other life form groups.

    This is so profound mal.
I believe your daughter got it right... not learning about love but recognizing it for Love is our essence.

    Soul
    (by Eric Galla)

    Close your eyes,
    To see with your heart,
    Close your ears,
    To hear with your heart,
    Forget your mind,
    And think with your heart.

    For your heart will see,
    When your eyes fail,
    And your heart will hear,
    When the voices are confused,
    Your heart has the answers,
    When your mind falls short.

    Remember your heart,
For it is the key to love,
    Remember all love,
For love is the key to your soul,
    Remember your soul,
    For it is your Foundation.

This is a very wise statement Neteru. I suspect you are an old soul.

    Today -

During his break from chopping wood, Gregg presented me with my Valentine's card/gift (first, ever): He was cutting walnut and found a piece with the shape of a heart in the center. It is now on my altar.

Here are a couple of my favorite songs. I've heard the artists live, and talked with them at least once. These are old, poor-quality recordings, but I love them anyway. I've sung the first one many times in church choirs. I even directed this song once. Dr. Calvin Taylor is also a VERY skilled classical organist -- and he can improvise VERY well! Listen VERY carefully to the words!

Did the Kingdom of God demote Jesus Christ (or a reincarnational precursor) because He was too loving and too much of a free-spirit? Too bad that you were too good??? We're turning things over to someone who does exactly as they're told -- without asking questions or making suggestions? I don't know why I keep on asking these types of questions -- but shouldn't the most important topics be examined from all angles?

Time is too slow for those who wait,
too swift for those who fear,
too long for those who grieve,
too short for those who rejoice,
    but for those who love,
    time is eternity.
