On the one hand it will keep people from becoming a member, but on the other hand it could be an impuls to the forum.
I think there are quite a lot of members who need a bit of encouragement to start a thread. The first one is the hardest.
Also, when it becomes a 'must', people will compare their first thread with other 'first threads', instead of those started by 'senior members'.
I bring this up because I find it a bit odd that from the 170 members, only 10% seeds the forum.
What's the point of becoming a member of a forum, if you don't participate?
