    Spiritual Humor

Post  JoeEcho on Sun Jul 02, 2017 1:32 am

It makes it even better if you had been thinking of an aspect of spirituality before discovering a particular funny piece. Any one can find something funny on the web but it's way more funny if it resonates with you personally.

Spirit at it's best says "Why so serious?'

Decades ago I used to think it was terrible to make fun of religion but then I discovered why that wasn't true. It's not about disrespecting anyone's beliefs. All is fair game in this game.

I especially enjoy when something makes me laugh AND makes me think at the same time. It's like opening up a certain door in the brain that isn't normally open.

    Thubs Up
That's the point we play hide and seek in the mirror
and the moment we catch a glimpse of our essence we smile and laugh of relief.

Yep, I can see you, essentially, saw what precipitated this thread for me.

It seems the mind's first order of business is choosing what is serious and by a process of elimination the rest is not so much. Once the mind makes it choice it seems impossible to change that course. It's like a missile locked on it's target. The missile once fired doesn't think.........why so serious (a target)?

Two targets: The Bible or The Neverending Story

Could it be that they are both versions of the same story? Hollywood does like it's remakes......

    Well yes.......yes it is.

Makes me think of the mystery sandwich notion.
The only way to get anyone stuck to anything is by a mystery sandwich.
It's two pieces of bread one of which represents the being,
and the other represents the object of compulsive focus.
And the two pieces of bread are pulled together by a mystery.
They are kept together by a volition to know the mystery.
And this becomes " serious " business.

    Interesting!

What if being is the mystery. If it 'begins' as a mystery then consequently it's a mystery through and through. It has no frame of reference to not take it's mystery-ness seriously.

To know a mystery wouldn't be a mystery at all hence it's elusiveness. There is only a trail of breadcrumbs (clues) to go my.

You know the nearer your (solution) destination.
The more you're slip sliddin' away.

Existence......and 'you' thought the slippery side in the backyard was big!

I've been following breadcrumbs a long time but in many ways it seems like yesterday....

Well being may be mysterious but it's no mystery to me that I am.
    This I know.
I have undergone several anesthesias and I would have assumed the I am  awareness would have gone on while the body was unconscious. But no. Nothing.

Switching from being to not being is interesting. I have come to realize I do this "all the time."
To be  always and have a universe land on the shore of awareness on and on and on eternally what a nightmare that would actually be. Like never being able to switch the light off.

When we say we are light beings that is only partially true. Light because that is the state where we perceive things. And then there is also the state of Not being   different in potential.

Mysteriously I am all that :)

What if the perceived gap in time is not a loss of awareness but part of it?

For illustration purposes, let's say reading a book were a continued awareness from cover-to-cover and a bunch of pages were left blank to symbolize a loss of awareness, would that also be a loss of awareness for the reader of the book?

.....1,0,1,0,1,0,1,0,1.......... Sleep, wake, sleep, wake.... gives the illusion of a change in perception and yet there is a strange continuity..... a samsara way about it.

Funny, on first glance it looks like a bunch of Monks playing Monopoly...

At first I realized in preview I was going to post the same picture twice and then I remembered how many times an hour on the drive to grandpas we kids asked:

Asking gives way to "the long way home".

So, when the day comes to settle down,
Who's to blame if you're not around?
You took the long way home
You took the long way home
    Took the long way home

It's a funny kind of knowing though. Just because someone "knows" takes nothing from the humor of it all.

The one that "knows" is right along with.

If sadomasochist puppet KNOWS it ultimately pulls it's own strings does that make it also...NOT a puppet? And if it's not a puppet who is pulling the strings?
