    THE POWER OF PRAYER

    Nina Maarit Reykjalin says:

I often respond to the prayer

    "somebody please help me",

    I am somebody. I help.

Great Spirit, Almighty Healer and Creator of all things,

it is with a humbled heart that we gather together to offer up many thanks.

We thank you for the rains that come to purify and provide growth to the plants and herbs.

We thank you for the wondrous flight of the fireflies as they dance among the trees,

    during the Summer months.

We thank you for the coolness of the evening and the warmth of the day.

We thank you for all two-leggeds, four-leggeds, swimmers, fliers and crawlers throughout each day.

We thank you for the soaring of eagles of the north, and the hawks of the south.

We thank you for the rushing waters that flow from the snowcapped mountaintops,

to the lakes and oceans below. We thank you for the seasons of bountiful harvest.

We thank you for the multi-colored flowers of the plains, and the colors of the Autumn leaves in the Fall.

We ask for great healing for those that continue to suffer through diverse diseases and disorders.

May we learn to use the many plants and herbs you have provided to cure us.

We ask for comfort for those that have lost loved ones.

We ask for guidance, strength and courage for those that have crossed over into the Spirit World.

We ask for great compassion for those across the four corners, that are suffering

through homelessness and those that are poor.

We ask that closed doors be open to them, so they may find their way without worrying about their shelter,

    and next meals.

We ask for the cleansing of our hearts so we may better understand the messages sent to us.

We ask for guidance each day as we continue on our journey along the Red Road of compassion and peace.

We ask for blessings be given to those that have walked straight along their path.

We ask for the understanding of the gifts you have given us, so we may use them for the betterment of all.

We ask for an end to the division among your people that keeps us from uniting together as we should.

We are weary from the many wars and ask for an end to all hostilities.

We ask for closed eyes to see, clogged ears to open, and hardened hearts to soften toward those

that have been misunderstood for so long.

We ask for an end to the killing of our Brothers and Sisters the Horse, Buffalo, Wolf, Bear, Whale and Dolphin.

We ask for an end to the trophy hunting that continues to destroy the sacredness of our animal friends.

We ask for freedom for all that have been incarcerated for crimes they did not commit.

We ask for protection and eventual freedom for our women and children that have been abducted.

We ask for an era of peace and tranquility where all people are of equal stature,

and no one is more powerful than the next.

We thank you for our Elders that speak true, teach us present day lessons,

and the wisdom of the ancestors.

We thank you for our children that continue to show us the innocence and lessons long forgotten.

We thank you for Grandfather Sun as he rises each morning.

We thank you for Father Sky as he protects us day and night.

We thank you for Grandmother Moon as she watches over us during our slumber.

We thank you for our Earth Mother that supplies us with everything we need to survive.

    Emenv
